ZARA’s WASH DAY
Re-PuBLISHED BOOK COMING SOON.

It’s wash day and Zara is not excited about wearing her hair in the same styles Mama usually creates. But once Mama takes Zara on a cultural journey to help her understand the significance of each hairstyle, wash days will never be the same!

Know Your Hairitage: Zara’s Wash Day is a semi-biographical story about how the hair texture and cultural styles of people of African descent are linked to a colorful and layered ancestral story.

“This book is exemplary in its structure, organization, and pacing. The structure of the chapters/parts aid in a compelling organization of the story or information. The pacing is even throughout and matches the tone/genre of the book.”
“The way this story and it’s illustrations detail the history, stylings, and detail of the hairstyles is perfectly done. It’s not too in depth, but covers so much more than many other books that touch on this topic. It’s informative, inviting, and inclusive, so that those readers who can relate to this hairstyle will feel recognition, representation, and pride in the depictions, and those who aren’t as familiar with the content will be educated, feel interested, and gain respect for the cultural significance and importance. Really well done and well delivered.”

“Wonderfully approachable, inviting, engaging, encouraging, and fun voice. Great for captivating readers and keeping their attention. The voice of the story matches the illustrations and that was wonderful to see the two so complimentary.”
